Guest Speaker: Kristen Shaughnessy - NY1 Anchor/Reporter

For nearly 20 years Kristen Shaughnessy covered breaking news for NY1 and had been an anchor/reporter for the channel since 1995. Now, she is a NY1's reporter for "Healthy Living" stories.

She has been named to Irish America Magazine's Top 100 list and the 2016 list of "Top 50 Irish American Power Women."  She was also honored as Hofstra University's Alumni of the Month. 

As a reporter, the September 11th terrorist attacks stand out as the most memorable story she has covered. Kristen Shaughnessy was at the World Trade Center after the planes hit and was forced to interrupt her live report and run when the first tower came down. To mark the 15th anniversary, she did a six part series on what happened within NY1 after the first plane hit the towers.

Prior to NY1, KristenShaughnessy worked as an anchor/reporter at WGNY radio in Newburgh, NY and at NewsCenter 6 in Poughkeepsie.
