Membership Officer Tami Ellen McLaughlinIBO Email: membership@ibonewyork.org Follow Tami Ellen on Twitter: @auntytem Tami Ellen is a marketing communications professional with extensive experience in financial services marketing and a passion for not-for-profit media and organizational support. She has worked as a marketing and communications manager at Prudential, NASDAQ-Amex, and PaineWebber (now UBS), and serves as a volunteer and consultant for special events at Irish Arts Center, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and Sober St. Patrick’s Day. Throughout her career she has prided herself on creating meaningful marketing and thought leadership partnerships. To better understand the changing not-for-profit landscape and sharpen her business and social media skills, she has completed corporate social responsibility and fundraising coursework at NYU School of Professional Studies and attended social media workshops with Sree Sreenivasan at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. During this time, Tami Ellen also met many individuals in career transition and saw an opportunity for a purpose-driven networking program for women like herself - entrepreneurial-minded and seeking to connect and collaborate. She was drawn to the Irish Business Organization of New York (IBO-NY) with its active meeting schedule geared toward networking and became a member in 2017. She realized the IBO-NY was a great organization to approach about a women’s networking lunch program to complement the IBO’s existing monthly evening and breakfast meetings and enhance the IBO member experience. Her proposal was approved, a committee formed, and a new networking program was launched in 2018. The IBO Women’s Networking program has built a solid reputation for facilitating an inspiring forum for women to build relationships and share business asks and offers in a supportive, positive, and fun environment, and has seen new and renewed IBO memberships tied to the program. https://www.ibonewyork.org/page-18214 Tami Ellen started her career as a newspaper reporter for Trader Publications covering local news in Putnam and Westchester counties. She has a B.A.s in English and Economics from University at Albany and a master’s degree in Organizational Communications and Public Relations from Iona College in New Rochelle. Tami Ellen’s grandfather Arthur McLaughlin was born in Belfast. Her first visit to Ireland was as a wee grade school student with her Irish American grandmother Mae McLaughlin. In June 2017, Tami Ellen met former Sinn Féin politician and Lord Mayor of Belfast Máirtín Ó Muilleoir at his New York - New Belfast conference. She was invited to attend the Belfast International Homecoming that October. She was thrilled to travel “Back to Belfast,” and stay at the newly opened Titanic Hotel, and represent the IBO as a boardroom panelist on “Coming Home: Building Partnerships with our 70 Million Strong Global Family.” https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/back-belfast-tami-ellen-mclaughlin/ IBO Email: membership@ibonewyork.org |
