Joseph M. Murphy, Jr, President & CEO, Country Bank

Joseph M. Murphy, Jr. has served since 1995 on the Board of Directors of Country Bank, a $560 million Manhattan based community bank serving the New York City and Westchester County commercial real estate markets. He joined the Bank in 1997 as Executive Vice President and became President in 2008. Throughout his tenure he has presided over a decade of continuous earnings growth. US Banker magazine ranked Country Bank in the “Top 200 Community Banks” in 2010, 2011 & 2014. The Bank has developed expertise in real estate lending to small businesses and commercial real estate investors for acquisitions, refinances, renovations, restructurings, re-tenanting, and repositioning asset types such as mixed use properties, multifamily, hotels, retail, office, industrial, and brownstones.

Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Murphy founded a commercial mortgage conduit, ValuExpress LLC, which has originated over $2.0 billion in loans for the real estate capital markets. For over 30 years he has owned and managed family real estate investments in hotels, apartment buildings, and commercial properties in the northeast and central United States.  Mr. Murphy has served on the Board of Directors for the New York Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Finance Advisory Committee of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, and is a Member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of NY, the Real Estate Lenders Association of NY, the New York State Bankers Association and the NYU Cornerstone Society. He has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Greater New York Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Mr. Murphy is a graduate of the University of Denver with a BSBA. He also holds a Masters of Science in Real Estate Finance from New York University.
