Geoffrey Cobb has been a resident of Greenpoint for over two decades with twenty-two years experience teaching high school history. In 2014 he published Greenpoint Brooklyn’s Forgotten Past, the first local history written in almost a hundred years. His new book, ‘The King of Greenpoint,’ tells the story of the most colorful character in local history, Peter J. McGuinness, a one-time boxer and longshoreman who got himself elected over a thirty year span, despite never having attended high school. As part of the launch Geoffrey will give an insightful talk on the history of Greenpoint.
