Guest Speaker:  Ted Smyth - Former Irish Diplomat and Fortune 500 Executive

Ted Smyth, a former Irish diplomat for 16 years, worked on the Irish peace process and European Union issues. Ted was Head of Press and Information for the Irish Government in the US from 1976-1982, then served in the Taoiseach’s office and the New Ireland Forum before becoming Head of Press and Information in the UK. He later became Chief Administrative Officer at the HJ Heinz company and EVP at S&P Global.

He is currently President of the Board of Glucksman Ireland House at NYU and Chair of the Clinton Institute at UCD. In 2017 Ted conducted two surveys on Irish America in partnership with Irish Central and Glucksman Ireland House.

His work has appeared in the Irish Times, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Los Angeles Times and World Policy Journal. Ted lives in New York City with his wife, Mary Breasted, a writer and former New York Times journalist.
